Cardamom®, a minority-owned, technology-forward health IT professional services company specializing in data, analytics, AI, and applications, is pleased to announce the addition of two members to its Board, Lisa Bielamowicz, MD, and Airica Powell-Steed, Ed.D.
Bielamowicz and Powell-Steed each bring unique perspectives as well as decades of healthcare expertise and leadership that will support and guide Cardamom in its next phase of growth.
As the co-founder and former president of Gist Healthcare, a strategic advisory service providing guidance to healthcare industry leaders, as well as the former chief medical officer and senior vice president at the Advisory Board Company, she brings energetic, provocative discussion to every forum she leads, having advised hundreds of executive teams and boards of directors over the past two decades. “Cardamom is in a unique position to be able to help health systems on both operations and strategy. We can help them navigate an explosion of technology innovation and fully embrace the “AI era” of healthcare while making their technology operations more efficient, lower cost, and return greater value,” said Bielamowicz. “I’m very excited to work with Vivek and the team he has built. Their drive, vision, and relationships across the industry put the company in a position to transform the health systems they work with. Plus, I challenge anyone to find a more mission-driven and just plain fun group of leaders!”
As the former president and CEO of one of the nation’s largest public health systems and a former Big Four healthcare management consultant, Dr. Powell-Steed has led some of the country’s most complex healthcare organizations through enterprise transformation, generating hundreds of millions of dollars in financial improvement while delivering breakthrough gains in quality, patient safety, operational excellence, and population health. Dr. Powell-Steed currently serves as CEO of Breakthrough Innovation Partners, where she advises health systems, healthcare technology companies, investors, and emerging organizations on enterprise strategy, governance, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, value-based care, and sustainable growth. “Healthcare is entering one of the most transformative periods in its history, and organizations need partners like Cardamom that can translate data, AI, and emerging technologies into tangible improvements in quality, operational performance, financial sustainability, and the patient experience,” said Dr. Powell-Steed. “What drew me to Cardamom was its focus on delivering measurable outcomes to solve real problems, as it reflects the same results-oriented leadership philosophy that has guided my career. I’m excited to help Cardamom accelerate its next phase of growth and broaden its influence across the healthcare landscape.”
With this appointment, Mark Bakken of HealthX Ventures will depart the Board, while Bielamowicz and Powell-Steed join Valspring Capital Co-Founder and Managing Partner Yumin Choi and Cardamom CEO Vivek Swaminathan as Board members.
